stage 1 comp cam install

do you have to make adjustments to the cam timing going from a stock cam to a stage 1 comp cam and how much hp will you gain

I saw them install a stage one crane cam on hp tv, and they didn't adjust or anything, just kept the stock cam timing marks. They gained 10 rwhp untuned, but with a tune you should be able to double that.
