Figure I'm trying to keep my cost to $21k total, if that. I don't have a whole lot of money to spend, but would love to share this project with my dad, learn how to work on my car and in the end learn a whole lot while getting myself an "almost" new feel to the car
The car started off as an 01 V6 automatic (~$4500). Had to purchase the 01 4V engine and trans (came mated together), computer, wiring harnesses, rear end, gas tank, driveshaft, brakes, misc. parts and nuts and bolts and crap. I thought about this after I posted my first post - we sold the old engine and trans for ~$1200 so I suppose you could bring the cost up to $12k. We built it almost 2 years ago so I can't remember part-by-part what we bought but it was fairly straight-forward. Took us a little over 2 weeks, working 2-4 hours a day and running into some problems (not having a part -> quitting early, etc).
