Ram air won't help all that much. Same as a CAI for the most part, but with much higher costs and either one won't really throw down big numbers. Until you do the exhaust.</P>

Carbon fiber hood is pricy and something else that kinda rhymes with pricy. <IMG src=smileys/smiley22.gif border="0"></P>

Modding up isnt cheap. But to start, a cat-back system will no doubt give you more power. Timing adjuster,underdrive pulleys, and cold air intake are all the basic mods that guys do. If you're wanting some real hp, port&amp;polish heads with a good cam, nos, or a supercharger will give you nice results. Im almost at 400RWHP with my supercharger.

Definitely get a cat-back system. Magnaflow seems to be a great system but make sure you like the sound of whatever system you buy. Getting an intermediate pipe with 2 high flow cats in a H or X pipe is also a good choice. If you decide on a x pipe, try to avoid chambered mufflers. I advocate intermediate pipes with cats for emissions and legal purposes. But its up to you if you want to go with off-road or a catted system. O/R is cheaper.

No Slowmaster, no SLP. Magnaflow, Bassani, or Steeda. Slowmaster is just that adds next to nothing for a new exhaust, people just like the sound and it is a name that everyone knows. SLP needed to stick with GM but with the dump of the camaro and firebird they are floundering and making parts for anything it seems. The were once a "awww" inspiring name but now it has fallen to the waist side.</P>

But, it does all come down to personal taste. I personally as you guessed it would not get Flowmaster. I would opt for a Magnaflow magnapack system coupled with longtubes and a cated x-pipe. That will make for one sick sounding car. Plus add approx 20 to 30 hp to the rear wheels.</P>

4:10's would be a good start though. It wil lower you ET much more than an exhaust. Gas mileage, depending how you drive will change very little.</P>

Flowmasters by far sound the best, get 40 series Flowmasters without the "Delta-flow" technology. They DO add just the same amount of power as any other exhaust system. They have been the top muffler for years and they didn't just suddenly stop making power. But somehow, about ten other companies have peeked their way into some mustangs. Again, its whatever your taste is. YOu want a unique and very tough sounding car, go with Flowmasters..

Chambered = no power</P>

Free Flow = powered</P>

"They DO add just the same amount of power as any other exhaust system." is a load of CRAP<IMG src=smileys/smiley11.gif border="0">. FlowMaster's have a good name, because their street products can produce a SOUND that can make anybody drool, &amp; they seem to SOUND like the Mustang SHOULD have from the factory. They have NEVER been referred to for performance to my knowledge while being backed w/hp #'s as proof. IMHO, FM's are a lot like Honda CBR's. Everybody who wants to ride, but has NO CLUE how to even RIDE a wheelie will swear on his life that his/her little F3/F4/F4i/600RR/900RR/929RR/954RR etc...will out perform a GSX-R...which is another load of crap. Say this w/me..."Purpose built." Purpose of CBR's (in general)are to beDO IT ALLS. The Gixxer's purpose are to win races.</P>

Regarding FlowMasters...their purpose is for SOUNNNND. Chambered mufflers restrict airflow by their definition alone. </P>

muffler</P>

\Muf"fler\, n. (Mach.) Any of various devices to deaden the noise of escaping gases or vapors, as a tube filled with obstructions, through which the exhaust gases of an internal-combustion engine, as on an automobile, are passed (called also silencer).</P>

Free Flowing mufflers do the exact opposite. I don't think I need to define what free flow means. And, what is so "unique" about Flowmaster's sound? MOST EVERYONE HAS ONE! The is not unique...that is following the unknowledgable crowd. Do you have any references of FM making more or even just as much hp as Magnaflow, Borla, Bassani, or any other free flowing exhaust? Don't post bullsh*t. If you want to help someone give them fact, or shut up. No need to lie, and further confuse someone who admittedly does not know the difference in exhaust brands.</P>

I'm sorry if this seems harsh, but I tell ya we need a F.A.Q. section on this forum.</P><edited><editID>GSXRIntensity</editID><editDate>37910.9473263889</editDate></edited>
