Intake swap and supplied alternator bracket does not fit right
Well I finished up an intake manifold swap on my 1996 GT and the alternator bracket that was supplied to fit the new aluminum crossover does not fit right. The one side hits the upper radiator hose and there is a curved part at the back that interfears with the IAC hose and the vent return hose that crosses from the driverside valve cover to the intake hose. Has anyone else run into this? It doesn't look like the PI alternator brackets I have seen in pics here but the bolt holes line up with the new intake unlike my old bracket where of course they are different, thenew onejust seems to not fit right. Anyone?

I ran into that with my '99 gt when my intake broke. Just take some steel and make a new braket. It took me about 5 minutes to make mine.

tcf26:
There is a specific bracket for the 96-98's with the PI intake. I'll dig up the part number for you. Cost is about $9 at your Ford parts counter.
Alternate thing to do is to enlarge the one hole and cut some of the bracket out (and then paint is so it looks nice). Obviously, if you don't have a grinder then this isn't an option.
HTH,
