The 96 GT I got for my girl a few weeks ago had gears installed a few months ago and the guy never fixed the speedo, In my 03 I put the SpeedCal in, but someone said you cant do that unless it's 99-04 but I'm not sure about that, my buddy has a little plastic gear or something he said he installed, any info about what I should do to fix this would be great, it's a 96 Automatic GT.

i looked on ebay for the little speedo gear, but cant really find what i think i need, anyone??

the speed cal will work on the 03 but for the 96 if the tranny is the t45 then you need the plasic gear change there are palces that sell them they arn't that exspensive

Get a Diablo Handheld, you can change the gear ratio setting to whatever the gears u had installed. it will fix your speedo and the shift points will be at the right position for your gear set up. they are expensive but it will be well worth it

You need to use a SpeedCal or buy the plastic gear. The plastic gear is more involved to install, but a lot cheaper. I'd go with the SpeedCal.

NO IT WILL NOT. A Diablo or SCT handheld is great to have, and can do a lot for you. but on a 98 or older SN95, it will NOT change your speedo for gears or tire size. You NEED either the plastic gear or the SpeedCal.
Again, as I have learned on my 97, your handheld tuner WILL NOT correct your speedy on a 96.

i was searching and seen a old topic today where they said the tuner would NOT fix the speedo prob, but can you get a speedcal? when i put mine in my 03 i believe all i could find where 99-04 5 speeds, can someone find me a place? or maybe i can google it when i get home and find 1, and does anyone know how hard it is to install the speedo gear? the little gears i seen on ebay were only like 15 bucks or so.

thanks man! didnt even check there, and thats where i got mine for my 03 at haha, i see how the plastic piece is ALOT cheaper, but it isnt worth it is it? b/c it isnt 100% accurate even after putting the litle gear in, is this correct or did i misread this while searching??
