Heads Reversable? I'm NOT Retarded?
Okay, long story short.
Last night I was about to bold the exhaust manifold up to the new head. That's when I realized that I would be bolting an exhaust manifold to the right side of the head while facing it. And the intake was on the left.
So, after near tears and figuring I wasted 400 dollars including cost + shop fees I was disgruntled.
However, after some examination this morning of pictures of the car befroe removing the head, and looking at the old head in my own garage, I realized something.
I think the engine shop put the camshaft on backwards.
Someone tell me if putting a camshaft on backwards would magically turn the head into a driver side head instead of a passenger.
Now, I recall somone saying that if you were actually going to use it as the other side, that you have to open, or plug some holes.
BUT: if the engine shop put the cam on backwards, would that solve my problem?

When i did my pi cams we accidently tried putting the drivers side cam on the pass head. Well right away we realized that the cam lobes were not exactly matched with the roller. It was about 1/4 to 1/2 off it. If the cams were installed backwards you would see that the cam lobes were not exactly matched with the roller.

They didnt swap it like that though.
They took the camshaft off of the head that came out of my car, and swapped it over to the new head.
I think they just put it on backwards.....
It was set up like a passenger head, they just put the cam on backwards.. that still possible?

I've got one, but I don't think it'll do much good. But give me a second. I guess I'll try to upload it.
Till then, just imagine a passenger side head. Then flip the camshaft. That's what I'm dealing with.

Just looked closer...the cam lobes are like, 2/3 over the rollers and the rest is kind of haning over.
Is that confirmation that the cam is on backwards?

I'd guess so... Undo the cam girdles and change the cam around and see if it lines up good then. You should be able to tell which side of the head is the front, meaning the side where the cam gear would go and if the end of the camshaft that the cam gear goes on is hanging over that side your golden. But yeah undo the girldes swap the cam see if it lines up.

Took it back. They're gonna have it for me tomorrow.
Whatever. Like I told the guy, I'd rather it be a mistake that we all missed like this *trying to be nice to them, no point in being an ******* as long as they still have it in their possession* than have sunk 400 dollars into something I didnt even need.
Thanks though guys.
