Default Swapping 2V 4.6L Heads for 3V Heads

I have a 2003 Mustang GT and I'm wondering if it's possible to swap my 2 valve heads for the new GT's 3 valve heads. If by chance it is, how much modification are we talking about?

I would imagine it's a relatively difficult process.

I know that a lot of work is required for a 4v swap.

I'm sure someone will be along to help shortly, but unless you've got some time and money to put into your car, I'd view your ideas as pure speculation.

The problem is the 3v heads us a Variable Valve Timing set up. I believe the 3v's use a drive by wire throttle system as well. I have seen a video of a guy who did the entire 3v engine swap but that's more fabrication as well. It's one of those things if you're going to do the swap you're probably better off just doing a 4v swap or FI on your 2v.

+1. A 3V swap would be more difficult than a 4V swap, whether you are talking about justthe heads or the entire engine.

Thanks for the input guys. I'd found a set of 3v heads on ebay and I was wondering about the swap job. You made my mind up for me. I'm just trying to squeeze as much HP/TQ out of my 'Stang short of bolting on a supercharger.

You can make 330+ hp to the wheels with a blower and the supporting mods

or spend almost as much and come up short of 290...

I guess I will just bolt on everything I can and start saving my pennies for a Kenne Bell. Thanks, again.

I'm a HUGE Kenne Bell fan (In fact I'm about to swap out my saleen blower for a KB) But if you want to put a blower on the car sooner than later, you can easily find used centri kits much MUCH cheaper out there.

Or, you could keep your eyes open like I did and snag one of the rare used KB's that get sold... Although even used the KB's are usually more expensive because there are so few that go up for sale and so many people who want them.

Yeah and 330 is on the WAAAAYYYY low end. Thats like a 6psi non intercooled V1. FI is the only way to go on a 2v.
