You gotta fix whatever's making it light up. Pull the computer codes, find out what it means, and fix the problem. It will go away after that.

If there was a button to shut it off the dealer would never make any money.

You could always put black tape over it. LOL

okay...I hd an integra back in the day and it had a button way under the dash to turn off the service engine soon light that would automatically come on evry 4500 miles. Lame... I know. I was driving normal on the way to work and the light came on...I dont know why, It's never been a prob before and the car runs strong. Can anyone in bay area CA pull the code for me? Can I do it myself?

Thanks for the input,

Ash

You can buy a code scanner for pretty cheap, I think as cheap as $30. Plus it's a good investment if that pesky light ever shows up again. I need to get one myself.

91gt5.0 a buddy of mine has, i forget the exact name, but it is a programmer made by hypertech and it is not only a chip but can it read codes, you can enter in your tire size and gears and it will fix the tach and speedometer, set shift points if you have a auto or set redline limiter or manual, his is for a newer stang but they probably make a one for your car. might be worthwhile to check it out

that's an EEC tuner, but if it reads codes, that's all you need!!

Agree with the above, I bought one of those OBD II scanners for $130.00 since i recently had a problem with my Idle air controller and I diagnosed it with it, made the repair myself and recently the light came on once again after putting a new O/R x-pipe with MILs, connected the OBDII and erased the code from the computer, the light went off until this point, if it comes on again I will erase the code again, the obd II is agood investment, believe me. </P>

I know this is probably late in the game...but for future use,the cheap and easy way is to take it to your local parts store...they have the OBD II readers and will read and clear it for free. Cheaper to drop by on the way home (if the code/problem permits) than to spend any extra money unless you just have to have the reader.
