SCT XCalibrator 3 Mustang X3 Power Flash Tuner (96-08)
I am considering by and SCT tuner for my 1996 Mustang GT convertible. I was wondering if this all I need to tune that car or do I need to buy this also SCT Mustang 4-Bank Eliminator Chip (88-04). From what I gather it would be one or the other.
Please help out this newbie....
Thanks,
Jag
BTW I hope to install at BBK 75mm throttle body and rpm/C&L plenum this next weekend.

With your mods I wouldn't get a tuner yet. Wait until you do more work on your car. Save up for a PI swap... But in any case, all you would need is an X3, then take it somewhere and have them dyno tune it to see optimal gains. But the more mods you do before dyno tuning it the more you'll see out of the tune.

I forgot to mention that I also purchased a BBK 75mm throttle body and a rpm upper plenum and I plan on installing them next weekend. With the CAI and the new plenum I thought it would be a good time to get the tuner and have the car dyno tuned. Will the throttel body make more of a case for getting the tuner or should I still wait? The PI swap is way off since it will be about $1000 or more to get one done. I really want to do that, but I don't know if I can do that myself so I may take it somewhere to have it done.

I still wouldn't get a tuner with just bolt on's. What about getting a set of PI cams and PI intake? They're pretty cheap and will yield about 25-30 rwhp. Maybe after that go for the tune.

Can I still use that with NPI heads? Thanks alot for the info. Any other into you can give me would be great, like where I can get PI cams and PI Intake.

What about this PI Intake Manifold. Is this the best to get? http://www.qualitymustangparts.com/20piinma42vg.html.
What else will I need?
Thanks

Use the search and look for PI intake swap. There's a lot of literature to read up on. If I had to do it all again, I wouldn't do a full PI swap, I'd keep my NPI heads to keep compression down. Port the heads, throw in a set of cams, and maybe a P-51 intake. I love my car now after the PI swap, definetly a worthy mod and gave me a lot more power, but I'd do it differently.
