I've heard that Motve's whine, and people recommend FRPP, BUT I've also heard that NO gear should whine when installed properly. I'm going to go with FRPP when I have mine installed, not sure what to do if I was you. Do you really want to go through the hassle of switching? Probably not...

i first had motive 3.73's and they whined like crazy so then i got a set of fr 4.10s and the same place installed them both times and the ford racings dont whine at all so i would say it was mostly because they were motives the first time.
The BRAND isn't the only thing you changed though.
The gear ratio changed, AND they were installed again. Maybe the new gears needed less shimming to get correct. Or maybe they did the install right the second time around. Don't blame the brand, especialy since that isn't the ONLY thing different the second time around.

Gears should not whine if installed correctly. It's a simple concept. If the backlash is right, they wear right, they don't make noise. I would go back to your installer and talk to him about it. I garuntee he will give you the "break in period" excuse. But they shouldn't whine durring that period either, especialy so loudly as you described.

you have problem with the install have them redo it. Motives are a bit more difficult than Frs to install but they should not make any noise.

I'm hoping it is just the bearings, as the guy didn't even touch the bearing/install kit I bought. But, I'm getting them re-installed tomorrow (at a different place) so hopefully that will fix the issue.

you want hurt anything if you drive it( i mean its not like its going to blow up in your face if you drive it with a little gear whine)
Mine whine and they are setup perfect ( I'm running 4.10 serria gears and a detroit truetrac)

You think your gear whine is bad you should of road in my car when I put the MM torque arm in before I changed seats all the road noise would come up there your butt.

alot of the time its the gears not the install.

You can hear the whine over the top of the catless midpipe and slp loudmouth ones at WOT with the convertible top down, the whine was loud (but not load enough where it would **** me off) I just imagined I had a hardcore racing transmission in my car for those few days

But, I will see if it was the install, or the gears come in about 3 hours.
