i have a 96 gt. i lost the key to the car. it apperently has the pats sytem. the key that i had was nothing special. it looked like the normal hardware store key. now the car wont run for more than a second. what i need to know is, is diabling the ignition or the fuel pump? and can i remove the system from the carin a way that wouldallow it to run?

You can go to best buy and get a bypass module it's made by DEI. It's about $100 and 30 to install. It's normally installed for alarms but it can be used without. I don't know if it's cost affective though, being that a replacement key is only 60 from a dealer. The only other alternitive is having your tuner turn of the PATS. Which you can't do with just a handheld, if that would be your next question.

Pull out your ECU and take your current key into the delership, they'll figure it out for you.
