Default Pinging under acceleration

Last night I took my 96 Gt out and washed it up then drove for a bit. I only drive it maybe once every couple of weeks. I went and got some gas in it. I noticed when accelerating...say to enter onto the highway or to pass someone...I can hear some pinging. I've heard it before back before I parked the car for the winter. It does'nt really happen say if I'm already doing highway speed, but if I mash on it, that's when I hear it. I guess you could say at WOT. I don't have any mods and I use 87 octane. Any ideas?

93 octane will take care of that problem in a snap

But would that high of an octane in a N/A car hurt my engine in the longrun? (carbon deposits)

Could also be something as simple as changing your plugs and wires. When was the last time that was done? A colder plug will also help with the pinging since you don't drive it often as well.

check your tranny fluid, it might need changed or flushed.

I don't see how 93 would hurt your car in the long run, it is cleaner than 87 thats for sure, you would prob see more carbon deposits in the long run with 87 than 93, but try 89 or 91 if you have it in your area to see if it stops the pinging, i use 93 on the weekends and 89 during the week...

Bull shat. There's more stuff in a93 than there is in 87, plus 87 is gaurunteed to fully combust, making it much cleaner.
