Default IRS upgrade????

Does anyone else feel the whole rear end lighten upwhen you hit a little bump in the road. In a turn it's a little nerve racking and I'd like to fix it. Am I dreaming when I start to look into a conversion to IRS on a 98 Cobra?

i felt and heard my wheels hop. I changed my shocks and what a difference. see if your shocks are worn either by looking at them and see if theres oil on them if there is they re blown. Or you can push down and if it bounces more then once when you let off you need new shocks.

The conversion is definately doable, I am debating whether or not I want to install my panhard bar/torque arm or buy an irs upgrade kit and go looking for an irs.

What you feel is suspension bind, our sn95 chassis's have an archaic design that binds fairly easily under any load. A properly setup SRA cost the same as a properly prepared IRS, however the IRS will outhandle the SRA in almost every instance. The one thing I can recommend is if your not gonna be buying the halfshafts, toelinks, etc, is to replace all the stock rubber bushings with delrin bushings. But I'd recommend getting everything done before installation.

i heard the IRS has even more wheel hop....
+1 IRS will out handle the SRA in a road coarse but not at the strip....
i think IRS is more for daily driving, but the spring rates are stiffer

Not true, the SRA's only advantage over the IRS is that there are fewer components to break, in case of failure. The IRS has a much better Squat to it than a SRA, it all depends on how you set it up. A properly setup SRA (no uca's, replaced with ta/tri link watts link/phb) will outperform a stock IRS in any course just because the IRS's main weakness is Ford was rushed to push it into production and could not properly develop the stock unit. A properly setup IRS will outperform SRA 9times outta 10, even on the strip.

Most people argue that termie owners mostly run SRA's and whatnot, thats due to the fact that they do not really thuroughly research their alternatives. A properly setup IRS cost less than a properly setup SRA.
