Need help finding a rattling noise
I am well past the end of my patience with this. I took apart my whole exhaust to find that everything is fine with the system. I looked everywhere on the undercarriage and can not find anything that can be causing the problem. It makes noise under throttle and when engine braking. Sometimes it sounds like it is coming from the backside of the engine block, while other times it sounds like it is behind me. The noise can be best described as a metal sheet rattling, almost like a heat shield. The sound followsengine rpms and is through out the whole rpm band.Anyone have anything like this that has happened? I really can not think of anything else. My vehicle is a 2000 GT 5 speed. O/R H, bassanni cat-back. Thanks in advance.

it could be in your driveline if it is directly related with rpms. does it do it when your sitting still? is it an automatic? if its a stick it could be your clutch or throw out bearing.

depends on what kind of rattling your hearing, I have a similar noise. I originally thought it was pinging but its alot less minor than what pinging should sound like.
I am assuming this is normal in a v8 from ford as a friends f150 does the same thing.

Well, It is does it primarily between 1500- 3000rpm, but will do it throughout the rpm band depending on throttle percentage. I am starting to think it is an internal problem with the muffler. I contacted bassanni, and am waiting for a reply.
