Default 4v heads and kenne bell

I am debating between the KB 2.6 or the 2.8 blower for my 03 GT. The 2.6 kit is for a SOHC 2v, comes with intercooler all that good stuff. The 2.8 is for the 03-04 cobra guys and comes cheaper but utilizes many of the parts that only a 03-04 cobra guy would have. I am really leaning towards going with the 2.8 and getting the extra parts to make it work, lower intake, 4v heads, ect. I have a couple of concerns.

1. Can I only use heads from a 03-04 Cobra or can I use any 4v cobra head?

2. Do the 4v heads require any diffent wiring or computer attention?

Thanks for you help!

Do a search for 2v to 4v swap there are literally hundreds of threads. But you are much better going with the 2.6 if you ask me.

You could swap the heads to a 4v set up. Then buy a Whipple. Thatcombination would cost about the same as the KB( maybe even less ) than just the 2.8. And don't forget. You'll need a new hood as well.

Ok.. here's the deal.... First of all there is absolutely NO reason to get a 2.8 unless the car is going to be a track only car and you have some serious money to burn. If you are planning on running your car on the street at all then belive me you will most likely never even max out the potential of the 2.6. I personally have the 2.2 on my car now( which is the same as the 2.6 only without the bore) so I can tell you that you should plan on 1) 2.6 = plan on spending a lot of money... the 2.1 is much cheaper and still has a higher hp potiential then your stock engine can handle... but if you are definetly planning on building up your engine/tranny/ clutch etc... and use this car on the street then get the 2.6... 2) if you are planning on using this car as a track only car and plan on putting in a new engine/tranny/suspenstion/clutch etc... then get the 2.8 but DON'T get the one for the 4v cobra's.. There is only one place you can go do get a legit 2.8 that will fit on the 2v GT's....MPH(modular powerhouse)... Ken Bell has given them excusive rights to sell that kit with the stipulation that they must install it.

Just keep in mind that the stock 2v GT engine should not be pushed much over 400hp or it will eventually blow something and that the 2.1 can max out slightly below 500hp which means that it has more hp potential then what your stock engine can handle.... You should figure out how much money you plan on spending and how you plan to use the car then that will decide which blower you should get.

Thanks for the advice guys. The one main reason I considered the 2.8 is because the kit is so much cheaper than the 2.6 for the GT. 2.8 for 03-04 cobra is 3700 and the 2.6 GT kit is 5500. Now I am aware of what is included in the 2.6 and whats not in the 2.8. You get to use 4v heads that flow much better, and being a bigger blower means more boost at same blower speed.

I'll have to look into MPH, its a shame they have to install it.

Believe me...dont go 2.8. I have hte 2.1l and I am more than content with it thus far. I dont have forged internals so I cant even take advantage of the bigger blowers at all and the power I have right now is plenty right now. But if you have forged internals and other expenses go 2.6

I want to make sure I can make enough power, I have one friend that is doing a 383 stroker camaro and another that is doing a 496 big block 67 firebird that will be around 800 crank horsepower. You think I would be able to stomp them>?

I have to put these trash talkin chevy boys in their place! Is there anyone on the forums that has a KB 2.6 I would be curious to hear how they like it, and what numbers they are putting out. I would like 700 to the wheels.
