RE: will i need to degree this cams with PI swap
I am friends with him and we are wondering because we want to swap the pi's for vt stage 1's, but we don't want to go through the hassle of degreeing cams. I've heard because that vt stage 1's don't have to be degreed, but what about with a pi swapped car. I know degreeing will net best gains but what will just throwing the cams in net? Still 20+ with a tune?

I'm pretty sure with a PI swap you are much more likely to get Piston to Valve contact vs a 99+ motor. But I highly doubt that the stage 1s would have any issues even with a PI swapped engine since the stage 2s don't even need to be degreed on a 99+. You can always give Cushman motorsports a call since the guy that designed most of the VT cam grinds now runs Cushman.
My personal opinion, you should always degree cams on install. The stock cam gears can be off as much as 8 degrees either way. Thats pretty bad. Its not just about the banks being balanced, you also might be losing considerable HP on both sides of the engine.
Every single hp counts with these engines. Even degreeing the stock cams will probly net you 10-15hp if your stuff is off to begin with.

Tell him to get them ordered up soon if you want them to install next weekend. Takes about 3-4 days to get them ground, and a couple days in shipping.
Thanks!
