Default Seat Mods

Hello everyone.

I have a deluxe or premium GT, god knows which, never really bothered to care. Either way, I'm looking to modify my driver and passenger seat. The headrests are capable of telescoping up and down. I'd like to remove the hardware from inside the seat that allows this, and weld the headrests in place (but still allowing them to swivel). The guy I live with has suggested that this could be dangerous. I know the job could be done, but the question is, will it cause pain in the long run?

I personally do not believe so. Thoughts?

(for those of you who will most definitely ask why, I've got a lot of rattle from inside the seats, and would prefer a simple, solid design)

I am going to fish around inside them and see about producing similar results without eliminating functionality, but I want to know if this would be an option without violating any kind of safety regulations.
