Default most cost effective upgrades for shortblock??

ok my short block is sitting on a stand rite now, i cant afford to replace it with any aftermarket blocks as much as i want too, i have the pi heads from jegs and the pi intake with gaskets, and so my question is this, what is the most cost effective way to add strength to my shortblock, this will be a daily driver and i would like to go with (in the future of course) a mild s/c or some giggle gas. ive seen rods as cheap as 158 a set, but dont know if they are any good. if anyone has accomplished what im trying to do on a very small budget please point me in the rite direction!

if you want the car to go faster, you going to have to dish out some dough. do you want bolt ons for after you build the short block, or do you want stuff to do while the block is out of the car?

dude while the shortblocks out might as well build it up. get some strong rods/pistons, and a cobra crank and you'll be good. Especially since you plan on going F/I in the future. Would only make sense.

There isn't going to be much/anything you can do without spending signficant money. I can't believe a set of 200 dollar rods will be worth anything...

the rods i seen were made of 5140 forged steel i-beams, what i dont know is that is this product just a fancy new set of factory rods or is this actually a small upgrade? anyone know what the factory rods in 1998 were made of?? and if anyone has the time please go look at those rods on ebay and tell me what you think, just type in MUSTANG 4.6 RODS and it will bring it up.

See if you can find a used 03/04 cobra rotating assembly pretty cheap, not really sure how much used cobra internals are worth, but they are forged and would be a nice upgrade...If anyone knows about what a used crank rods pistons would cost out of an 03/04 cobra please advise, as this is the route I may go, cuz I'm on a tight budget to and anything over 400whp scares me, but its just not enough
