Default Transmission help

I am moving this to this section for more viewing.

I think I posted up about this last year. But here goes...

So I had a 4th gear issue in my '00 GT and ended up replacing my transmission with a T45 from Jasper. They sent a new one out, had it installed, but still had a grinding sound on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. It almost sounds like a rubbing right after I engage the clutch. It only happens when the engine is cold and not running up to temp.....although, I may not be able to hear it or it may be a little better lubricated when its warmer.

Since the first new transmission, I am currently on my third! Thank god for the Jasper warrantee, however, I am begining to think it is Jasper......period. So, longer story shorter, I get it back from the shop on Friday and it seemed fine. Actually it seemed a lot tighter than usuall, which is nice. Ran great. Washed and waxed her on Saturday. Monday morning hop in to go to work, and hear the same noise between 1-2 and 2-3. Brand new. No clue what it is. With the stock tranny, I never heard that. I do not drive differently than before.

Any one have experience with this or have any clue what it could be? Hanes manual has nothing! Help!

I am now thinking of going with a different transmission. Can anyone elaborate on the T-56 or other type? The T-45 has me at my whits end!

well just read the other posts about transmissions....no need to elaborate on the T-56.

Can someone explain the differences between the 3650 and the 500/600?

Does anyone still have an answer for the original problem?

I know this may sound stupid, but are you sure your Quadrant/linkage is adjusted correctly?? Since you spend more time in 1/2 and the 2/3, before it becomes warmed up... The only other thing I could think of, is asking if you've changed your clutch from all of this, or is it still the same PP, Disc, TOB and flywheel...

Normally, those last few things would affect all gears, but it sounds like something deeper.. Do they just rebuild it with the same housing, or is it a completely different tranny when you get it back??

other than appearance, there really is no real difference. 1st gear is shorter by like .01 i think. they both feel exactly the same except for the fact the 500/600 transmission is stronger and built for abuse. also it is alot easier to worth with if you have to get under the car a lot. as i said in the PM, when doing my TKO500 swap i spent more time trying to pull my 3650 out than putting my TKO in. the TKO was a BREEZE to throw into my car and its just as easy to pull it out.

You will find that the TKO or the T56 seem to fit better. I have no idea why these didn't come standard. Go T56!
