Default 5-link, torque arm, or cobra IRS?

i've got a 2000 GT convert, and i am trying to decide between these three options: an MM torque arm, finding an IRS out of an 03-04 cobra, or getting a steeda 5-link. any opinions? my friends say there really isn't any solid axle system that can compete with IRS, but i'm just really not sure about what to do because the IRS is so much more expensive than the other two options.

What are you trying to do? Drag or corner carving? If you're talking about drag, your friends are idiots. There isn't really any IRS that can compete with a solid rear.

no i'm talkking about corner-carving. and yes, they know that a solid rear can't be beat for straight-line, but that's not what i'm looking for.

For some reason I still think SRA's are more predictable than an IRS if you were to hit a large bump while cornering

You can build a reliable corner carver with a SRA, for much less than an IRS. The design flaws in the IRS make it expensive to upgrade, and only marginally better than a SRA in the corners with proper tuning. In fact theres a much larger aftermarket for the SRA than IRS. I perfer a watts link over anything but it all depends on your driving style. maximummotorsports.com, steeda.com, griggsracing.com, and evolutionmsport.com all deal with the cornering ability of our stangs, check em out

So stop thinking!
Think about it if you’re in a corner with a SRA and hit a bump it will affect both rear tires. If you hit the same bump with an IRS it only affect the tire that hit the bump

yeah, but in my head i know that already so I compensate for it. If you take an irs around a corner and hit a large bump affecting both wheels that's twice the amount of variables.

to sat the irs doesn't work well in drag racing is stupid. show me another stock rear suspension stang that does 1.62 60 fts on 17 inch 275 tires with stock 17s up front.
