Default Long Tube Headers

I have a 1996 mustang Gt and im wanting to install headers. Im not sure what else i need to get on my car to install the headers. Some have told me i have to get a new mid pipe and some have said i dont. Help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Whoever told you that you don't is an idiot! But to answer you question, Yes you will need to get a new mid pipe if you go with long tubes.

what if the LT Headers are for 1996-2004 mustangs shouldnt they already fit my mid pipe

no the long tubes are obviously longer than stock manifolds...you need a shorty midpipe

dude look under you car and where the catalyc converters start way up there by the header that's where you header ends. Since LT stands for Long Tube they are much longer then the Shortys therefore you'll have to get a shorty Hpipe or Xpipe if you aint man enough for the Hpipe.

get a pi head swap from a 99-04 then get the lt's and h/x-pipe or prochamber

installing longtubes to ur car is going to be a huge pain in the *** on a 4.6 and yes u are going to need a much shorter mid-pipe there are a few companies that make mid-pipes for longtubes u just have to make sure that they are compatible for ur headers
