Default gear question

I was told the day that the frpp gears do not have to be measured and shimmed. I want to order my 4.10s and of course if I don't have to shim them that would be great becuase I don't have all the dial indicators and stuff that I need, but I can borrow them from a buddy if need be.

Whoever told you that is an idiot. All gears need to be measured and shimmed to get a proper installation. You should never listen to anything that person has to say about cars.

Thats what I kind of figured. I can get a hold of the dial indictors and stuff to check backlash and pinion depth and stuff. I work with dial indicators everyday so doing it isn't a problem. Kind of new to the whole mustang thing so I didn't know if ford had come out with some gears to just drop right in, but then again that would not make any sense becuase every thing such as the gears and rear end have different tolerances that other gears and rear ends. Thanks for the feed back guys.

No problem, bud. Here is a link that is very helpful. Enabled me to do my own gears and they came out perfect.
