well as far as dirt/water is concerned I don't see how i so much water and dirt just from the hood scoop being modded. I would get more dirt/water from the underside of the vehicle (not likei have apiece of plastic to protectthe underneath of my vehicle from dirt/water)and also from the mach1 delete too. I have had the engine water bogged before when i went though a huge puddle. And there are alot of after market hoods with bigger scoops than the mod i did but people still buy them.
My mustang 94 GT has functional hood vents and onthe rearfenderon either side and never gave me problems. I don't know why some people would think that making the hood pull in more cool air (i know i am not getting an more hp) would cause my engine to get water bogged and run like crap. If it is pooring down rain so much that i am getting water bogged from the scoop, i would have most likely pulled over cuz i couldn't see out my own window first beforethe bogging ever happened. I will put up pics here is a min.

i did the same thing, took it up to 75 on the freeway, and the scoop started to shudder really bad, so that mod lasted about 15 minutes.

today i am going to buy some trim to finish it off
the underneath is wet cuz it was raining and i took it fora drive to see if my engine would **** the bed. No it did not, and not anymore wet than it got without the mod.

ORIGINAL: cliffyk

What about rain, road dirt, etc.? I drive 100+ miles a days through all sort of heavy rain, construction wirk, etc. and the forward facing scoop I tried on my s/c'd '90 Miata (even ducted to a plenum/drain/catch pan) sucked up dirt and water like a shop-vac...
i got the S281E hood the only problem i have when it rains is that the TPS gets wet and car idles like **** other than that have no other problems
