I don't think you will really loose any top speed either. The 3.27 (too tall) in the '02's and the lack of power are two reasons theMustangdoesn't have such a great top end stock. The way the car is geared, w/enough power the car should push close to 200mph (in theory). Putting on 4.10's will allow you to use more of the power the car does have, and enable you to shift through your gears w/out falling out of the powerband in 5th. Stock, I had my speedo reading 139mph, but I wasn't going to get much further before I got off it.

Vs a 3.73...you will like the 3.73, an be completely happy until you race someone w/4.10's. Just MHO. If gas mileage is an issue...check out other things u can do to help cancel that out. Aftermarket exhaust can BOTH help/hurt you mileage based on how you drive. Computer Chips, and ignitions are all ways to help gas burn more efficiently [read: better]

Good advice, and $275.00 for installation is about right for price. Usually just asking a mechanic on the side will get them done for $100 to $150.

You need to recalibrate your speedometer when you get new gears right?

Yes, it must be done via a chip if you have an auto or a speedcal type device (90 bucks) if you have a MT.

Is an autologic chip any good?

Could Houston Performance tweak it so that it could make more power?

Would it be more mula($$) for a re-programming of a chip?

Thanks. aaron.

you should call houston performance and ask them what they recommend, most places that tune are only setup to tune 1 brand chip or an ecureflash (no chip)

Right now my car stock can get up to 130-140 mph, if i do the 3.73 what can i expect to max out at? and if i do the 4.10's what should i expect?

I do drive on the highway sometimes, but a friend told me that the 4.10's would drastically lower my max speed. I was just curious how much effect it would have. Obviously i am not pushing max speed often anyways so lowering it shouldn't hurt me at all anyways

Top speed will probably go up a few mph. Right now 5th gear would take you over 200+ mph if you had enough power to get there, but you don't. With stock gears on your 4.6 when you redline in 4th and shift to 5th you will lose speed because the revs drop so low you are out of your power range. 3.73's or 4.10's will help get you into your power range and continue to accelerate.
