I have a 89 LX mustang with the 2.3 and I also own a 96 T-bird with a 4.6. The bird was rolled so I picked it up for next to nothing. The cool thing about the bird is that it drives strait the airbags didn't deploy and it runs great with no MIL. What I want to do is to put the 4.6 in my Mustang. I was wondering if anybody had seensuch an animal.

It can be done, it's about the same as a 5.0 swap.

Problem is, a 96 4.6 isn't much of a motor to begin with. And for the amount of work you'll be doing, it's kinda not worth it unless you tear into the motor and do some mods.

I do plan on making some mods internally, first off more aggressive cams. Externally equal length shorty headers with an off road x pipe, intake porting with a cold air piping. Is there any weak points that I should get to to prevent my 46 from becoming a high dollar boat ancor. I was also concitering a Nozsle system possibly with bigger injectors. This will happen over time, not all at once. I was wondering if anybody out there has see a 4.6 FOX.

Its like this, why drop in a 4.6 when you can drop in a more powerful 5.0 or 5.8L motor. I guess if you already have a donor car then hey, go for it! Why not! But if you didnt have a donor car then it would be a no brainer to NOT do it.

The good thing about the modular engine is that it is the exact same demension as the 5.4. If I happen upon a donor F series pickup that is going to be the new engine. It will set right in the place of the 4.6, the only change will probably be an ECM swap.
