Default Twin turbos!!

Has anyone had experience with the twin turbo kit for the 99-04 gts from hp performance? they claim the the system is capable of 850 hp on a built motor and that on a stock one they send em out the door at 450-470hp at the WHEELS! isnt that a bit high for STOCK components guys? Any words of wisdom from the boost gods?

yes, that is a lot of rwhp on a stock motor. im sure you could push out 500rwhp but it wouldnt last long at all. I think unless you plan on building the motor only go s/c or single turbo, twins would be barely even seeing their potential and just a waste of money.

now see according to them it is a safe power level. Also, the twins are used for more power, simply because a single one would require too much space due to the larger size of one. so two smaller ones are used instead.

sorry typo--i meant that they ARE NOT used for more power. Its jsut that they couldnt fit one big turbo in, but they could tuck 2 small ones in the sides.

I understand the concept of turbos, im just stating that you would never need two turbos on a stock motor. It would be the biggest waste of money. And yes, 450-475 rwhp is definately pushing it on these motors...its only a matter of time before kaboom.

it is going to require a forged engine, LOTS of boostand IMO some nasty head work to reach that claimed HPlevel.... i have seen a lot of 2v's bite the dust between 400-420rwhp including my friend's 1.7KB car

with my cam (231/237 112lsa) and full exhaust , lid , with an LS6 manifold the car made 419 to the wheels... now i have a FAST 90/90 intake manifold so i would assume the power is in the high 420's somewhere. As you saw in my sig the car went 12.0 with a crappy short time. I would have to believe the car is in the high 11's somewhere when i can get the launch down.

IMO, twins would be a better idea for a street car. A big single is made primarily for top-end/race applications.
