Default How much boost can a stock 03 mustang GT take safely?

I'm curious because I now have the money and am about to buy a procharger. I'm leaning towards the 3-core procharger model but I want to know if my car can handle it. The only mods I have are a roush cold air intake, BBK long tube headers and high flow X-pipe, and a Borla muffler. That's about it. What do you guys think?

Most people say 450rwhp is where to stop because the rods will bend. I would play it safe at about 400 rwhp.

I have heard many different thought on this subject. I have heard of ppl running 12 psi on stock bottom ends and never having a problem it all depends on how u drive the car and how well its tuned i guess. I have heard this rule of thumb: 0-4lbs its safe, 4-6lbs might not or might break, 6-10lbs its going to break but no one knows when, 10+ lbs broke LOL this is just based on what some guy told me once. I'd say there is a number of factors to base this info as above tunes and driving method etc. I have the 8lb P1sc kit and my car runs fine i want it at 10lbs but i think i am going to wait till the winter and build my engine and raise my boost where the endine will be relaible.

I'd watch the pistons also they are very weak in the 4.6l engines, They will break before the rods i would think

How much horsepower would my car go up to with a 3-core supercharger? Mind you it's intercooled.

still i wouldnt go over 400-425. The rods are rated at 450. the pistons arn't much better but the rod are by far the weakest link in these engines.

EDIT: a 3 core can make more than enough power to break the stock engine. so be careful

I wouldn't run no more than 8 lbs of boost on that motor.

The P1sc is not a 3 core supercharger better yet what is a Numbered core supercharger? The intercooler is 3 core and 2 core the stage 2 kit comes with a 3 core intercooler and you can choose your boost level via smaller dia pulleys when ordering. The stage one kit comes with a 8psi pulley and a 2 core intercooler.

Procharger recommends 8 lbs on a 2003 GT which will give you around 350-370 rwhp. Most guys will say the maximum is 10 lbs of boost which puts you near 400 rwhp but you have to have a good tune for the engine to take it. Procharger offers a free 1-year or a purchased 3-year warranty if you get the P-1SC with the 8 lbs pulley. For the $75 purchase price of the 3-year warranty you get six bottles of oil so the warranty is basically free. The warranty isvoided with the 10 lb pulley. For the most part the stock MAF will work with the 8 lbs Procharger. I had to get a Diablosport MAFia because of my other mods. It or a Lightning MAF will be required for the 10 lbs Procharger. A lot of guys recommend getting the D-1 Procharger but that is not necessary unless adding forged rods and pistons are in your plans because the P-1SC is capable of providing more horsepower than the stock rods and pistons can take. If your car is a daily driver and you don't want to take chances get the 8 lbs pulley and the 3-year warranty. If your more of a risk taker go with the 10 lbs pulley. But with boost there are no gaurantees. Some guys can run420 rwhp without any trouble. Sometimes (rare, but it happens) the motor comes apart on the dyno at 350 rwhp.
