Very hard to shift into 1st gear, please share some insight!
2000 Mustang GT
5 spd
After owning my car for about 4 mths now, the tranny has been really getting on my nerves. Whenever I come to a dead stop, put it in neutral, and try and get back into the first, I find it very difficult (sometimes)
I usually have to fiddle around with the tranny, for example, try and put it into second then slide into first and if that dosnt work, try third and then first. This problem is intermittent, i.e. it only happens sometimes. I do not know whether it is the design of the tranny or if its a problem. I dont usually like to force things in, so I keep fiddling till it works (and its holding up traffic at lights).
ps. there are no grinds going into any gear, so I hope its not the synchros. Could it be the fluid? The car did sit for a good year.

If its a stock quadrant, then put the car in 1st, engine off, push the pedal to the floor and let it out, then you use your arm and pull the clutch pedal up towards you and see if you can feel it click. Rinse and repeat

oh lmao...believe it or not I actually thought something was gonna leak out if i did that. maybe its just so late at night....ill try what you said tomorrow, and let you know how it goes. thanks for the help.
