Was told that 2002 -2004 ford changed the oil pan and it holds 6 to 7 quarts of oil? and 1999 -2000 take 5 quarts of oil. is this right 2000 GT neeeds only 5 quarts of oil.

The oil pan is the same AFAIK. Most people use 6 quarts in these motors. Better safe than sorry knowing how these things will spin bearings if not oiled properly.

It's 5 quarts for your car. It's not wise to use 6 quarts when your engine calls for 5. Overfilling with oil can actually have the effect of reducing lubrication within the engine.

i go to walmart and buy a 5 quarts of oil and grab one bottle of lucas oil stabilizer. dump half the bottle of oil in, then put in the lucas and wash it down with the rest of the oil.
