Default Cooler thermostat

Anyone run a cooler thermostat with good results? I am not sure what the stock t-stat is...I would guess 195 degrees. Anyone tried a 180 or lower?

How much for the 180 or the 160? 160 seems a bit cool, suprised it doesn't bring on a check engine light. I would rather run cooler though, especially down here in Florida. I haven't seen any on Ebay...

I use a Stant 180 degree myself. Same basic thermostat Steeda sells. Steeda recommends the 180 and NOT the 160 as they claim the 160 makes your engine run too cold for proper computer control. You can go to www.steeda.com and do a search on "thermostat" and you will see a brief explanation. Better yet, call them and you'll get a whole earful of why the 180 is a good choice.

One other good choice most Mustang owners are not aware of is the Ford Racing thermostat. They offer a special high-flow stat that bypasses the water under high rpm's and helps reduce cooling system pressure that can cause damage to your gaskets and plastic manifold....the infamous "cracked" maniforld. Check it out at:
