what exactly is the difference between 97 and 98? 99+ is returnless. is it just the way the pump fits in the tank? this has me a little confused lol.

Your best bet is to keep the stocker and add an inline pump if going forced induction. If you modify the basket on a 98 tank you will cause fuel starvation below a half tank which will cause a lean condition and you'll be sweeping the streets if you get my drift. When I went with F/I I got a tank, regulator, and filler neck from a 97 and I'm good to go!
So the voltage varies in the 98? does that mean the fuel flow changes to meet demand? because with my problem I could guess the module that controls that is whats bad and not the pump itself.

I dont know if i ever stated the exact problem or not but when its under load it seems to be starving for fuel. I also have to prime it every time i start it so i just figure if the pump is losing pressure than its a pump problem. Once it starts it fine until I floor it and it sputters.

If you have the stocker still you should have no problems in reference to the voltage, just sounds like a bad pump

Hijack.......
sory i did'nt fell like starting a new thread. I'll try to make this short.
I had the 03 stang jacked up from the rear so i could run my nitrous line. when i was done i lowered the car, replaced the negative bat cable and fired her up! the low fuel light came on (b4 had 1/8th tank) i let it warm up and shut it down. then i waited in koeo 4 a min held the tach button and went koer. my SES light is now on and i have a p9204 code. FUEL SHORT TO GROUND. WTF.... now my car won't start and my fuel guage stays dead empty? ANY clues how to fix this on the CHEAP.
