Default What do you guys think about Cobra Hypertech Power Programmer 3?

Someone in my area is selling this on craigslist and he says its for a 99-01 mustang gt/cobra. Is this any good or is it junk? Hes asking $140. Should I get it? Any opinions would be helpful because I am still new to most of this stuff.

works fine to calibrate the speedometer for gears/tires, dont expect a big hp increase.

If you want it just to change the speedo, or to firm up shifts in an automatic, it's fine, but if you're going to do any real mods, you're better off saving the extra $120ish and getting the SCT SF3 that you can actually have custom tunes in, and the canned tunes are even adjustable if you need to simply richen or lean out the a/f, change the MAF or injectors, etc.

With the Hypertech, you get very little adjustability for future mods.

yes diablo or sct. the main thing i dont like about my hypertech is that you can't turn off the rear o2 sensors for an o/r mid pipe like you can on an sct

My advice to you would be to see what the reputable dyno tuners in your area use, and go with that. That way you only have to buy it once. Everyone around me uses SCT, so I bought the X3, and I can go in and have them do custom tunes for me on the dyno. If I had a diablo, I'd have to drive a few hours for a dynotune instead of 30 minutes.
