Front wheel thump
<FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" color=black size=2>Have a 96 GT Mustang with p245/50r16 tires. It has developed a thumping noise above 35mph and continues at higher speeds. Have checked alignment and installed new tires on front and machine spun balanced. Front bearing motion is smooth and quite. Its driving me nuts, any Ideas or previous experiences with similiar problems and corrections would be appreciated.<IMG src=smileys/smiley7.gif border="0"></FONT></P>

Ball joints? , is it a constant thumping or under certain conditions, such as bumps, uneven road surfaces, etc<edited><editID>Black Horse</editID><editDate>37931.7352314815</editDate></edited>

thats what is was, bearing appears to have been underwater. Spindle end was rusty after removing the cap and bearing had a flat spot, only in one position.</P>
Funny how it turned freely and smoothly without the weight of the car on bearing.</P>
