160* or 180* degree thermostat
i am probalby gonna get a lower thermostat i have heard the 160* can lead to problems under some condition i was wondering whcih one would be best for me i live in tennessee if the climate has anyting to do w/it thanks

well ive heard the engine runs better at lower temps plus ive got my cooling fans turned on w/my diablo sport predator tuner i heard its a cheap and easy to do mod

the big deal about dropping down to a 160* is that a "stock" computer will keep your motor in closed loop state.
if you got a tuner you will be fine...hell i'm running two 14 in. fans,and a 160* no problems,and it does seem better
in the stop n' go traffic..

I just got my SLP 180* stat from the Brown lady today, Hooray! we'll see how well it works, my car runs VXERY warm in the summer, TOO warm really. I'd advise you to get the 180*

haha yea i gotcha im afraid of that thing i got my local mustang shop to fool w/it not on a dyno when i bought it from them i figured if im gonna pay like $435 theyd better help me out a little bit considering ive dropped prooly $1300 there lol but yea they turned my fans on you can here them winding down when i turn the car off so i guess i would be fine w/a 160*

Steeda recommends the 180 degree stat. They claim 160 is too lower for the computer to properly keep your running mode at optimum performance. Another thing a cooler thermostat does is lessen the overall back pressure that is allowed to build prior to opening. This higher back pressure can lead to premature gasket failure and/or cracking of your plastic intake manifold. Ford Racing also makes a thermostat that allows instant water flow under very high rpm's to take the stress out of the cooling system.
