Default Hydroboost leaking. Could this cause idle issues?

I took my car to the shop because it has fluid all over the underside of the floorboard, on the transmission, and down the firewall. I also have to push harder and harder on the petal as I am stopping to maintain the same amount of stopping power. I was told that the hydroboost pump is leaking. My car has had a slight miss at idle for a while, but nothing major. Would this leak cause this at all? I was under the assumption that Hydroboost somehow related to engine vacuum. I was quoted $795 for the repair and labor. Thank god for the extended warranty. My total will be $42.00 to get it fixed. Thanks in advance all!

I had that problem with my old mustang (99). Not only will your breaks go out, but so will your power steering.

Please keep refilling your P/S resivour with fluid until you get the problem fixed. I was on the highway when my P/S and breaks when't out. It sucked.

As for the miss at idle, I'm pretty positive they are not related (unless your leaking liquid on top of your plugs some how)

The hydroboost runs off just the ps pump, no vacuum.

And your slight stumble at idle is probably normal. I lot of Mustangs I've had or worked on had a slight hiccup every couple seconds at idle only... You couldnt really feel it, more of hear it in the exhaust..

Great, thanks for the advice and responses. Hopefully everything works out okay when I take it in. I really hate other people working on my car but for almost $800.00, I can live with it knowing that the warranty company is paying for it and I am not.

Okay, so it is fixed, but I am hearing a hissing sound inside the car that sounds like it is coming from the hydroboost. Seems to come and go. Also, when I step down hard on the pedal, the hissing gets worse. Is this just because of air in the power steering system that needs to work its way out? I also noticed that the hydroboost that they replaced mine with was refurbished. Is that bad?

+100000000000000

Mine stumbles every few seconds when warm, had Ford run a "full 99 point diagnostics test" 2 months ago due to a tick which they deemed "normal fuel injector ticking." I drive my **** like an absolute mad-man every single day and shes fine. The mechanic said its "one of the best looking 03 engines he had seen" so I accepted his answer and went on home
