Default ECU, Transmission, Or Engine problem?

today i started up my car put it into reverse, and it reved up went down reved up and went down, and continued to do that until i put the car in neutral as soon as i put it back into reverse it did it again. it doesnt do that when in drive.(had my foot on the break obviously when i put it in reverse) the car is a 1999 GT Auto. any help would be great.

A friend of mine has the exact seem thing when he just idles. When did this start for you? was it JUST today? or has this happened before?

make sure that the air intake tubing isnt leaking when the engine shifts to the left in reverse. this will cause an air leak and affect your idle.

its definitely not anything leaking and it still does it every so often.
