Default Would it be worth it?

I hear of people pairing nice intercooled superchargers with heads and cams, all on the stock block. From what I know, the stock block is limited to 450 hp to the wheels because of the bottom end (I may be slightly off).. anyways, the question is this:

If all you have to do is give the car another pound or two of boost to get it near the max hp available from the stock block, why would you change the bumpsticks and heads? At that point I would imagine you'd have to decrease the amount of boost, for the same hp you could've had by upping the boost. Does it add stability/longevity?

better/cooler sounding idle with a better power range?
pushing extra psi would, i think, put more stress on parts that give way (rods) where as heads/cams is less stress? i've heard max psi on stock block is anywhere between 9 and 13 psi. tho i myself would never push it more than 11, and would probably keep it closer to 9 most of the time.

there's also a difference between psi and airflow. heads/cams allows more air to flow, while psi is just jamming more in there?

but im just a n00b, so if anyone else wants to chime in please do so. and i've heard anywhere from 400-450 is borrowed time on a stock block. i probably myself, would say 420-425. that seems like a reasonable number to me. of corse there's a bunch of other variables to consider, as always.

Can somebody confirm that high psi/boost breaks parts? I'm under the impression that it is not high psi that breaks engines, rather high hp (wich often comes as a result of high psi) that breaks engines.

thats so stupid, the money spent on cams/heads couldve been put into forging the bottom end and making a lot more power.
