Default how to increase acceleration and HP?

Hi, I just bought a 98 mustang Gt 4.6 with 45,000 miles on it. It's all stock, what are the first steps i should be taking to increase my horse power and acceleration?

Thanks -Murph

Well, there are a lot of posts around here about this, but first and foremost get some gears. They won't actually increase your power, but you'll accelerate a whole hell of a lot faster.

probably 4.10s, unless you plan on FI.

id go with the pi swap..u can pick up like 30 hp for like 700 bucks for new parts..used probably cheaper. then cold air intake, plenuim, gears, underdrive pulleys, tuner, headers, exhaust, throttle body, just the bolt on stuff should keep u satisfied for a month or 2. then on to more power lol

I agree, get a SC, for 3g you can probably get half of all possible bolt ons, but it'll only give you around 40hp over stock, with a vortech you can get about 120hp over stock with the same money

i would say either go with 3.73s and go fi
or
go with 4.10s and a pi swap with maybe some nice cams. than any bolt on you add will add more cause it flows so much better than the crappy npi heads/intake. you can see my build in my sig if you wanna refence point.
