Default Just got done putting the stock H back on

Had to do it to get my tags

I noticed a pretty big drop in power from putting the stock pipe back on versus my upr o/r x

I used to be able to stab it in 1st and it would spin the tires now no spin with these 275s I guess thats a good thing but it shows that there was a loss of power.

What can I do to get some of this power back?

Im not putting the o/r pipe back on after smogging it. Im thinking a SCT tuner?

Will that give me what I lost?

Theres a good chance that there really isnt much more than 8 horses lost by going back to the stock H unless your F/I. What you're noticing is probably just the fact that it doesn't sound as mean and you've got it in you're head that you've lost power. Why spend money and effort towards a tune when you've got a perfectly good bolt-on that you've already paid for. It ain't that hard to throw back on....in fact its easier than a cat-back. Just put the mid-pipe back on.

Plus a tune wont do a whole lot for you on a mostly stock car especially if you're manual.

But if you insist.....go SCT or Sniper. I have an SCT SF3 and it kicks all kinds of *** in terms of utility.

No its defintely not just sound.

If im rolling at 5mph and stab the gas, when I had the x pipe on it would spin my 275s descently. Now it wont spin at all

And I dont want to put it back on because Ive been pulled over twice for too loud of exhaust. I know, stupid cops

Get a 2-1/2" catted H or X pipe, it'e the inner diameter of the aftermarket pipes more than the lack of cats that improves the flow. A 2-1/2" ID pipe is 23% larger than a 2-1/4" pipe...

Cats vs. no cats (aftermarket cats, that will pass smog tests) make little to no difference in power, the difference the do make is 2-3 HP at 5000+ rpm. If anyone has back-to-back dyno charts, not supplied by a maker of "off-road" pipes, that dispute this I'd love to see them.

I have UPR's catted X-pipe and a Magnaflow catback, and hit 262/305 on my last (cold weather, I have to detune for Florida summers when IATs hit 100°+) dyno run--with modest bolt-ons and an optimised tune...
