I just developed this same problem this week. I have the same setup as JVOG. Vortech V2, focus fuel pump, 42lbs injectors, etc

Anyways, I have the problem randomly. It doesn't matter if it's hot or cold. The other day I was running an errand, AC cranking out. Ran into a store #1, no problem. Ran into store #2, then poof it wouldn't start. (did the same thing as below)

Then this morning, I tried start the car. It cranked for a second, then it just went quiet. I turned the key back, tried again. Then vroom.

It cranks hard, so I'm sure there is power. But it just seems like there is a power loss.

One of my guesses was a starter selinoid. Do our cars have those? I know that was a problem once with my old Explorer

I would really really hate to drop the gas tank to take a little piece of white plastic out for this pprv thing.

Could be in the tune. Timing being too retarded in the cold start would cause this problem.

+1, i had this issue on my supercharged ranger before,..took a bit of tweaking to get it right and it was tough to diagnose because it wasnt all the time.

I was thinking it was in the tune. I know outside temp has a good bit to do with a tune, and my car was tuned in the dead of winter and the problems didn't start until it started getting warmer out.

I don't know if I have the same problem as JVOG, but here in California, we rarely have large temp changes.

This thing has been haunting me all week. The power supply is good, I can hear the fuel pump running. I've tried everything, waiting after the key is in, before starting. I even hit the fuel tank to see if the pump with stuck.

The only thing I have found that works, is if the clutch is pushed in with my right foot, not the left foot. Like I said...weird.

One question I have, could this possibly be the little switch that says the clutch is pushed in?

I had a little work done on my car today (smog check and oil change) the tech's had to start my car 5 times, it fired up each time. But as soon as I paid the bill, and tried to leave. It wouldn't start. Put it in nuetral, used the right foot, then vroom.
