the people at crutchfield are telling me that if i buy a new head unit and speakers that the speakers will only produce bass

you will have to remove all of the mach460 stuff. and rewire the speaker wire to the new speakers.

when we did mine i used the existing tweeter speaker wire since the stock tweeters are powered by the stock headunit. the woofers have bundled wires and wierd connectors so it wont work for aftermarket applications. i was also lazy and didnt feel like rewiring the whole car. it works good for me, not sure if its recommended tho might want to use new speaker wire.

Don't forget that the factory Mach speakers run at 2 ohms. There are some component systems from Crutchfield that operate at this level. You could use the mid-bass speaker of these systems with the factory tweeter in the sail panel. Expensive but functional.

Seriously go to Best Buy or where ever and pick up Pioneer Speakers. I had blown out factory speakers.... replaced all the speakers and the tweakerz w/ pioneer sound. Best quality ever.
