Default Car didnt start second time i tried to drive it today

so after cleaning the IAC stuff(which was last week) the car ran great and was responsive. today, earlier this morning, i drove the car to school. it started right up drove like it always does, excelent, and then came home. the next time i go out to drive the car, it starts up fine then after about 5 seconds the car starts to act likes its running out of gas (rpms jumping, throttle unresponsive, etc.) so i drove it around the complex and parked it and shut it off.

a couple hours later i go back to the car and try to figure out whats wrong. i figured since i had half a tank this morning (at least thats what it said) somebody had come by and siffened my gas. (the gauge still reads half full) so i go and get some gas and dump 2 gallons in the tank. i let the pumps prime and try to start it and it just cranks over and over and doesnt start up.

So i pop the hood, check everything to make sure it all looks normal, and i got curious and opened the engine oil cap and took a whiff. now i have never smelled gasoline in motor oil before but it smelled damn close to what i think motor oil and gas together smell like. i didnt have enough to see if there where any rainbow films, from gas and oil mixed, on my hand or the cap. but right now i dont know what to think. please help me out, hopefully i am just getting all worked up over nothing too serious.

thanks

well i took a small amount of oil out of the pan and its really really thin and smells like some type of gas smell. the reason i dont think its gas is because there is no separation in the liquid (like oil and water). its only been 2 weeeks since my last oil change.

anybody????

could it be possible the last oil change used the wrong oil? It may smell slightly like gas well...because gas is derived from oil? Your mind may just be tricking you because you are LOOKING for a problem with it. I'm betting you cleaning off the components had nothing to do with the issue if it started out running perfectly.
