Default t-45 tranny fluid

So I've been able to dig up a lot of info on the 3650 but none really on the t-45. I've read that Ford recommends ATF fluid even for the t-45 which is a manual but then I've also read that people just use RP synchromax.

From RP's site:
Ford Manual Transmissions (XT-M5-QS spec, WSD-M2C200-C) arrowSAE 10W40

Ford Transaxles (F32Z 19C547-MA) arrowMax-Gear 75W90

Ford all models (XT-2-QSM, XT-5-QM) arrowSynchromax
Should I go with Synchromax for a t-45? And I need just under 4 qts? (I will just fill until it comes out the fill hole)

i found this tremec bulletin. since the t-5 and t-45 are similar i would figure the same fluid would work

Date:
March 14, 2003
Subject:
Recommended Fluids
Transmission Models Affected:
All
Due to various synchronizer materials used in TREMEC transmissions, and
different climates and applications, no one single fluid will work for all
transmissions. For example, fluids that are high in sulfur content may damage
the surface of brass blocker rings found in many transmissions, while some oils
may damage the bonding material used in carbon fiber papers. Heavy weight
oils generally provide better lubrication to bearing surfaces; however they may
cause harder shifts, particularly in cold weather.
Recommended oil change intervals should be based on specific usage. In most
cases a “fill for life” is adequate, while in severe applications such as drag racing,
or road racing a more frequent fluid change should be prescribed. Excessive
heat will cause most fluids to breakdown and ultimately cause damage to the
transmission. The transmission should be filled through the fill plug located on
the side of the transmission. Proper fill level is achieved once the oil reaches the
fill hole. Recommended fluids by transmission model are listed below:
TR-3550 / TKO
GM Synchromesh has proven to provide the best performance for these
transmissions, which use brass synchronizers.
T-5, T-56, TR-3650
These transmissions use a combination of brass, carbon fiber and paper-lined
synchronizers. An ATF fluid such as Dexron III will provide the best results.

I just replaced mine with Amsoil ATF. It is what they recommend. I've yet to be unhappy with one of there products.

Ugh there is just no ****ing consensus lol. I've seen people recommend gm synchromesh then seen people say it has too high a sulfur content and that tremec themselves say not to use it. I think I'm just going to use the RP synchromesh and change it if things start grinding or something.

I would just leave it alone but my damn tranny has taken to "clunking" every time I shift from 1st to 2nd. I have a brand new driveshaft so it's not a u-joint. Oh well, hopefully this will serve as a little bit of damage control and make it better.
