Question Tire size?????

Have 2000 gt with 2003 svt cobra 17 inch whels. Car has sumitomo tires which suck. Tires are 245/45/17. Going to put on nitto 555r drag radials on back was thinking about 275/40/17 on back and 555s on front at 245/45/17. Any one have better input on size. car has bbk gripp inch and a half lowering springs with max motorsports caster camber plates. Can I run 275s all around. How will car handle? Any input greatly appreciated

The '00 GT wheels are 8", so cannot recommend anything wider than a 245, sorry

What are the goals for your ride? 1/4? DD? Twistes

He's 03 Cobra wheels. 9 in. wides.

Get 275's out back for DR's and 255's up front.

ive seen a bunch of people get away with nitto 315's on those rims, they bubble a bit but it works, but ya, 275's are perfect..

correction, i would only recommend trying to fit 315's for 1/4 mile track use.. i dont wanna be the guy who gives you bad advice and in doing so you pop a bead off around a sharp turn.

275's are safe for DD or anything else... thats what came on those rims from the factory (all around)

Default tire size

I will go with 275 on back but should I put 275 on front or 245?

Oops, my bad

I neglected to read closer and see the '03 Cobra wheels on there. In this case, I would recommend 255~265's. I think a 275 is a bit too large for a 9" wheel, but will fit. I think it has too much bulge and usually a bit sloppy in the corners.

If one ONLY wants the rear set for 1/4 mile track use, I would recommend going with a set of 15"s and the taller profile being allowed by such a wheel.

i ran 275s on the back with my 8 inch wide wheel. i wouldnt go anything more than a 245 on the front. 275s on the cobras wouldnt buldge out too bad. mine didnt, but i like that look.

you can run 275's up front. That's the stock size tire Ford put on the 17x9 inch wheels.

I'm currently running 285/40/17 on the rear.

315 nitto 555r's work just fine on a 17x9 wheel.

I have that set up and it works perfectly. Nitto's are narrow as HELL. I had previously bought 275 555r's and they were BARELY any wider than my sumitomo 245's that i put on the front.
