Default Did I buy broken gears?

Hey guys, got 4.10's from ebay, seller said they were in perfect condition but used very briefly. Received them in the mail but the end part of the pinion where the threads are looks like it was broken off? Here are the pictures, do I need to return this set or can it work?

I never buy used on e-bay for just that reason. You never know what "used" means.

What was his rating like?

If they have less than than a 99.5ish rating or less than 10 sales I keep looking.

Wow that is a hard part to brake. I'm guessing the car was in a front end collision that shoved the motor backwards and braking the pinion bracket off

Wow!!
I'd be filing a report with my CC immediately and get my $$$ back on that one, then I would file a report with eBay and PayPal.
