sidewall question
hey all,
I am wanting to make my car look a little more aggressive from the back and am considering buying tires with a significant amount of sidewall. Anyone know how much you can go on a stock suspension 04 gt with 17s??

You want to look at the diameter of the tire reguardless of wheel size.
You can "squeeze" a 28" tire with stock springs and drag-bags or something to really limit the travel of springs to avoid bottoming out. I run a 25.7" tire and is max on a nearly 2" drop. Pepe my sig and see how this gap looks as it is the smallest you will get with normal oporating suspension reguardless of tire diameter.
Dimebag is correct on the effective gearing change you will get going taller tire. If you are not concerned about this, I would recommend no more than a 26" tire for good clearance.

You could go with a 255/50-17. It's approximately 5.3% bigger in circumference than the stock 245/45-17s and will make 3.27 gears feel as if they were 3.10s. Because the radius is 2/3" bigger, they will raise the car 2/3" more off the ground. They will also fill up the fender well gap above the tire by 2/3".
