Default Overheating

Today on a 20 mile trip to my dads house the car started overheating badly the gauge was about 1-2 mm away from the red mark. I stopped and checked my coolant it was very low once you take the cap off it drains away into the hose. So I fill it up with water let it sit for a good 10-15 min till the gauge was midway. Drove another 5 miles and pulled over and checked the coolant again it was boiling and once i managed to get the cap off it all drained back into the hose. I filled it up again and called my dad to come get me and let the car sit and cool. 2 hours later same thing from the gas station to my dads house as above.

I pulled the thermostat and boiled it and at around 230degrees is when it would open fully, so I replaced it with a 190 thermostat. Ran it for around 20 min didn't overheat. Drove it back home and just recently went to pick up my brother and its a whole 15 degrees cooler, and the car is still trying to overheat but not as fast or high as before.

I have white smoke now and the car kinda feels rougher than before, the oil level is fine. The car is not leaking coolant or oil.

Sorry about the long post but do you think I burnt a valve or blew a head gasket?

I personally would pull your manifold off and look at it. The white smoke IIRC indicates you are burning coolant. Look to see if it is cracked.

Its a 03 PI manifold and I dont think its cracked, as where my NPI manifold when it cracked was very noticeable. The white smoke is from the tail pipes. I did pull a spark plug to and it was normal kinda black on the outer ring and brownish in the middle.

Is your cooling fan coming on? Turn on the AC and see if the fan kicks on

Did you properly bleed the system of all the air bubbles?

you may not think that your manifold cracked, because most crack on the front coolant runner. but my intake manifold cracked on the far back drivers side. i had no idea for the longest time.

You either blew a HG, or cracked the coolant crossover in the intake manifold. In all likely hood, the HG is blown. I would give an 85% chance that the HG went bye bye.
