Do you need a tach adapter on a 99 mustang

Nope, just tie the gray wire with a black stripe to the #6 reactor negative terminal. Should be good.

I know what your talking about. On older cars with a distributer you would connect your tach to that (I'm assuming aftermarket). On a lot of new cars with a distributerless ignition you need some sort of box to convert the signal from the crank sensor I belive. Correct me if I'm wrong someone. I don't know if 99 and up mustang need something like this I believe they do. I'm also intrested because I want to connect a shift light.
