Default 18x10 275/40/18 too big?

I have an 02 GT and was wondering if 18x10 275/40/18 would be too big or rub in the front. What is the largest tire/rim or a recommendation that will not rub? The ones that I have (275/40/17 black bullitts) rub in front when turning hard and I am tired of it. I was thinking that maybe the extra inch would help with the rubbing, but I am not sure. I would almost trade for a nice set of stock bullitts at this point. As always, thanks in advance guys!

Not sure about up front. I have 265/40/18 up front on 9" and 295/35/18 on 10.5" with no rubbing issues. This is on a 99 GT. conv.

Whattup...This is my first post here...Just got myself a 96 GT "Cobra Clone"...I have 275/40/18 in rear and 245/40/18 up front. I'd call a local tires shop to see, but my guess would be yea they'll rub. I don't think the extra inch will help.

Don't post if you don't know what your talking about. OP you can run 315/35/18, or 315/35/17 and be fine no rubbing at all the 10" and 10.5" rims have the right offset to compensate for the wider tire.

So you're one of those huh?? An ******* for no reason...I love how people grow big ***** on a forum, and know everything btw...I wasn't looking for a comment on my post, just telling him what I have and what I'd do....And since you know everything, you didn't ask him if the car was lowered which would make a difference...So you should know what the **** you're talking about first bitch. My 245's in the rear rub the sidewall in steep driveways...FYI

OK DID YOU READ what I wrote the 10" & 10.5'' rims have the right offset to COMPENSATE FOR THE WIDER TIRE @$$CLOWN. I would run a 9'' up front with 265/40/18 or a 255/40/18 up front. The rears like I said you can run as wide as 315/35/18 and be fine.

Why must disagreement go this direction? And gunpig.... OP was asking about the front reguarding 10" wheel fitment.

OP, a 10" wheel will not run up front on an SN95 without some serious suspension mods or fender work. The widest 18" tire/wheel combo you can safely run w/o mods is going to be a 275/35/18" on your ride. Even this is likely to have a bit of contact on fender/liner, but easily addressed. You could probably squeeze some addtional tire up there, but a 265/35 is a better fit anyway, IMO.

According to americanmuscle they say that 275/35/18 is the biggest you can go w/out mods. I be willing to bet that they actaully test fitted them so I would trust them. All through when i put 315/35/17 (which they also said would fit) on my rearend i had a minor issue with my stock exhaust rubbing. goodluck

OP, I'm not quite sure I understand the logic you're going with here. Let me try to get this straight. You're having problems with a 275/40/17 tire rubbing up front, which I'm guessing is mounted on a 9" wheel, cuz that would be about proper for a 275. But you want to go with a wheel that's an inch taller, run a tire that's the same width as what you have now and has the same sidewall ratio (which I believe will make your tire taller than it is now), and to add to it, you want to run this on a 10" wide wheel on front? Don't take this too hard, I'm just trying to help, but if I've understood what you want to try correctly, I think you're going in the opposite direction of an answer. My guess is this will make your problem far worse than it already is.
