So basicly what the title says. Today my mustang smelt a little hot but not the smell of hot coolant just the smell of a hot engine anyways it didnt read hot so I checked my fluid just to see if it might be low or what the problem could be. When I checked it it was a little low but the thing I noticed was it was black. I just had to get it flushed a little while ago because the manifold was cracked. What could be the cause of this.
Black coolant? Did you pull some out of the bottle to make sure it isnt the bottle thats dirty and not just the coolant? Sounds like oil+coolant. Take a picture

Depending on how well it was flushed... there could be some EGR exhaust gas buildup from your manifold cracking before (I think this is possible but it doesn't seem likely). The way I flushed mine when I bought it was running zerex or something in the car for an hour or so driving and then flushing it out with the hose (engine and radiator).
What is the color of your engine oil? Did you check you spark plugs to see what they look like? It may be a good idea to do a compression test! Good luck, Tommy.
